Financial support

There are a number of funding options available for teacher training and you could be eligible to receive all of them.

  1. Bursaries and scholarships: Teacher training offers tax-free bursaries and scholarships of up to £26,000 for trainees who have attained university degrees in certain subjects such as science, languages and computing. This money does not need to be paid back.
  2. Tuition Fee Loans and Maintenance Loans: Tuition Fee Loans are available to pay for your course fees upfront and you will not have to pay this back until you start earning more than £26,575 a year. Maintenance Loans of up to £12,282 are available. All eligible trainees qualify for at least the minimum loan amount for their living costs, regardless of household income. For Hamwic SCITT trainees, this is £3,410 if you are living at home and £4,289 if you have student rental accommodation fees.
  3. Additional support: Extra financial support is available if you are a parent, have an adult-dependent or a disability.
